Missing Pretty?

So there are, every now and then, hilarious things that come out of a child's mouth. Here's one little episode to give you a chuckle. Tuesday I caught Micah in the bathroom using my mascara underwater as a bicycle pump. I've explained my own application of make-up or hair styling as "making Mommy pretty." So when I had to throw out the ruined mascara Micah said innocently "oh, no Momma's pretty is all gone, you not pretty anymore" Talk about a blow to the ego. Of course he told me I was pretty about 15 times later that day so I guess it balances out.

This past weekend we snuck down to Houston to suprise my dad "pa" for his birthday. He was certainly surprised as he was coming in from his car to hear his grandson hollering from the backyard about snakes in a pool. (not as scary as snakes on a plane) So after rescuing the snake we all had a great weekend, Micah even swam in the pool, minus the snake. Micah was given the new Veggie Tales movie, Moe and the Big Exit and has enjoyed looking he part ever since. Thanks for reading!!

Krispie Kreme

So, those of you who know Micah personally understand our eldest's dear love of donuts. This St.Patrick's Day we went to Krispie Kreme for hot, fresh, green donuts!! The only person I know who might be able to out eat Micah, would be his Uncle Jacob! If you haven't seen the conveyor belt you won't be able to imagine the sheer wonder through the eyes of a 3 year old. It was almost like we had stumbled into Santa's workshop. It made for an early evening with all the boys on sugar overload!!

Learn something new

Stephen and I have been married for nearly 8 years now. I have learned many things in that time, how to make gravy, the important details of Star Wars movies, and I have even grow nto love and appreciate his necessity to stay up late to watch the last 30 seconds of a Mavericks game. (I should have learned this three years ago when he tried to paint my pregnant belly blue to get into a game for free...) But alas, Josh Howard and I both learned an important item of information last night. Did you know when you foul someone as they are making a 3 point shot they get to take THREE free throws? Well I guess Josh Howard didn't know that either so with 5 points to gain Steve Nash (gotta love him anyway) made all three of his free throws and then made an amazing basket with 2 seconds left on the clock to take it into overtime.

Alas, after double overtime and three of our star players fouled out, the Mavs lost. But like I tell Micah, whats the point of going through hardship if you don't learn from it and God's name doesn't get glory. SO, now Josh and I have learned this lesson, never to be forgotten, and I'm sure God is being glorified somewhere in Phoenix right now!! Maybe before our actual anniversary I'll learn to like ESPN radio too! Not likely, but even blogging about Sports probably made Stephen love me that much more!

Spring has sprung??

Only in Texas will you be running around in swimsuits and tank tops in February and March. Isn't he adorable? I spent the night away, its nice to be missed. When I got back Micah dragged me right outside and wanted to play. This weekend I was soooo blessed to go on our church's WONDERFUL ladies retreat. You'll notice two of my roomies, Tara and Courtney, who kept me up later than my boys and Monica (not pictured) got us up earlier than Caleb :) she does have some excuse- she was an organizer. But it was nice to spend the week with all girls rather than all boys. Our minister's wife performed a monologue that she wrote that was very moving and funny at the same time. We worked on the theme of the Red Sea Rules and I was very provoked. It was stretching for many of us. All in all, a great time of fellowship for all of us and hopefully will grow us throughout our church.

A suprise visit from Edson!!

We were suprised and excited to host a friend of ours from Tanzania tonight. Edson Kamenya is a gifted Tanzanian evangelist and translator who we became friends with in Morogoro this summer. Edson translated for us as we taught the classes at the translator courses and spent many hours together. He has translated many Bible helps into Swahili from other languages. Edson recently finished translating a Children's Bible. He is here visiting some of the American churches who support him and his ministry with Pioneer Bible Translators. We were blessed and encouraged by his visit and Micah was able to use a little of the Swahili he remembers, us too! Isn't so good how God brings just the right encouragement to us at just the right time? We never know who in our day we can touch with God's goodness. I am so grateful to God for his gentle touch and how he uses those around us. When you pray please lift up Edson, he feels he may be coming down with a case of Malaria. Many in the tropics never really eradicate the illness and so it flares back up whenever they get run down. Pray also for his wife and children back home. Pray also that the Lord will grant us our desire to be able to return to Tanzania to serve along with this wise man of God.

Thanks!
